UK boxing analyst says Hatton will lose to Pacquiao

abs-cbnNEWS.com

British veteran boxing writer Colin Hart has predicted that Manny Pacquiao will beat Ricky Hatton in 10 rounds when they face off on May 2 in Las Vegas.

Hart, known as the “Voice of Boxing,” told British daily “The Sun” that despite Hatton’s improvement under new trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., there’s still a stronger possibility of him losing to Pacquiao.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Pacquiao does stop Ricky in the later rounds, maybe nine or 10,” Hart said in The Sun story published March 9.

Hart noted that the Pacquiao-Hatton match up will be fascinating and a very close one, but predicted that Pacquiao, with better speed, will emerge victorious. read more

MAYWEATHERS: Floyd Sr: Floyd Jr. returning!

fightnews.com

“Of course. There’s no question about it!” stated Floyd Mayweather Sr. this week when asked about the possibility of Floyd Jr. fighting again. “He’s trying to find a fight right now, believe it or not. He’s trying to get a fight right now, as we speak. He’s going to fight again!”

As for his current relationship with his son, the elder Mayweather stated “Me and my son, we were at odds, and we’re pretty much still at odds. It’s not a big deal. I don’t have real gripes with my son, and if we can get along that would be good. I would like that. But I’ve got to do what I got to do. And my business is training, and that’s what I do, and I do it better than anybody else.. And what you’re going to say about my son? Oh, well.” read more

How Many Stones Is That, Ricky?

By Dave “Large” Larzelere

As Ricky Hatton begins his intensive training camp for his May 2nd fight with Manny Pacquiao, there’s been a lot of talk about Ricky Hatton’s weight lately, both by the fighter himself and by observers.

One of those observers (and granted, a biased one) is Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, who said recently that Hatton looked very heavy, and maybe weighed upwards of 165 pounds. The fight with Pacquiao will be at the junior welterweight limit of 140, or ten stone, as the British are wont to refer to it. read more

Ricky Hatton will exploit Manny Pacquiao frailties, says trainer

By Gareth A Davies

Trainer Lee Beard insists that Ricky Hatton will exploit defensive frailties in Manny Pacquiao and knock him out in ‘The Battle of the East and the West’ in Las Vegas on May 2.

Beard is convinced, having seen Pacquiao up close in fights and in sparring, that Hatton’s style is “made for Manny”, and predicts a 6th round knockout. Conversely, Freddie Roach believes exactly the same. read more

Ricky Hatton: Manny Pacquiao Gambles With Every Punch, I’ll Make Him Pay

by MICHAEL DAVID SMITH

As Ricky Hatton prepares to defend his world junior welterweight title against Manny Pacquiao on May 2, most boxing experts think Hatton won’t be able to withstand Pacquiao’s punching power for 12 rounds.

But Hatton has other ideas. He says Pacquiao takes too many risks with his aggressive, hard-punching style, and that as soon as Hatton makes him miss with a hard shot, Pacquiao will be off-balance and ripe for the taking. read more

Hatton downplays Pacman’s big win

By Michael Rosenthal

Ricky Hatton and his trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr., both said that the Oscar De La Hoya who was knocked out by Manny Pacquiao in December was a shell of the real Golden Boy.

Their comments minimized Pacquiao’s accomplishment and implied that the Filipino icon won’t be facing a similar opponent when he steps into the ring with Hatton on May 2 in Las Vegas.

Hatton is promoted by De La Hoya’s company, Golden Boy Promotions, and Mayweather used to train De La Hoya. read more
